Charles Phillips Brings His Managerial Skills To Infor as Its New CEO
Charles Phillips gave up his position as Oracle co-president (with Safra Catz) to assume the CEO position at Infor Global Solutions last September 2010. The aggressive Infor is a Georgia-based mid-market software solutions company whose ERP product is now acclaimed as the 3rd largest in the world after SAP and Oracle. He takes on the Infor helm from former CEO Jim Schaper who went on to become Infor’s Board Chairman of the Board and a senior operating partner at the company’s primary shareholder, Golden Globe Capital. Charles was replaced by former HP CEO Mark Hurd who also sits on the Infor board.
Infor Global Solutions has been experiencing a 59% growth when Charles Phillips came in, and has been consistently expanding with the integration of several small IT firms it has acquired over the last few years. Charles now faces the challenge to do better and propel the young $2 billion IT company to greater heights of product and marketing successes that he has done for Oracle where for 7 years, he was seen as responsible for tripling is growth. He was also the point man in Oracle’s $30 billion acquisition of 60 IT firms that included former big boys like BEA systems, Hyperion and Siebel Systems.
Apart from his successes at Oracle which is the most relevant for Infor, Charles Phillips also brings his superb work experience that started with a stint as Managing Director in the IT sector for banking leader Morgan Stanley right after obtaining his MBA degree from the Hampton University.
